Beaches in Swaraj Dweep (Havelock)
Radhanagar Beach One of the best beaches in Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) island, it was rated as the ‘Asia’s Best Beach’ in 2004. Beautiful silky white sand and sky blue water are the highlights of beach. There some other attractions with sandy bottoms & coral reefs which are excellent for swimming and snorkeling.
Sunsets here are often spectacular and it's a popular time to be at the beach, but be careful not to miss the last trucks back if you're not staying here. Up to 5:30 pm coast guard allows to swim. A man with an elephant walks through the forest occasionally, offering rides for a fee. Buses run throughout the day until sunset, as do auto-rickshaws and shared 4 wheel-drive trucks. There are a few food shacks where the road hits the beach, all of which rent snorkels and fins. Also if you walk all the way on the right side of the beach, there is a lagoon also called Blue Lagoon. Very crowded and devastated beach. The other way to reach would be to take your bike all the way in the forest pass Barefoot and walk a little. As soon as you cross the big rocks, the lagoon is there.
Elephant Beach is further north from Radhanagar and is popular within Indian tourists. The shoreline of this coast is being swept away by 2004 tsunami and the beach is a fraction of what it is used to be; however the coral here is probably the best on the islands, making this is an excellent spot for snorkeling. It’s reachable on foot from Beach #7 or by fishing boat from the east side of the island; many resorts arrange snorkeling and diving trips here.
Kala Pathar Beach is one of the stunning long stretches of white sand enticing travelers with its unique lining of black rocks beside the serene blue sea. It’s one of the most beautiful beaches in Swaraj Dweep. Located on the tip of Havelock, the name of this beach, is derived from the adjoining street called Black Road. It’s small & peaceful beach in Andaman where you can spend leisurely hours of your days at your own pace. Witness the mesmerizing views of sunset and sunrise here at Kala Pathar as the place is known for its panoramic sight. Its amazing places to visit in Swaraj Dweep (Havelock).
Neil’s Cove While this is a part of Radhanagar Beach itself, Neil’s Cove is a stunning lagoon situated northwest of Radhanagar Beach. Its formed by enclosed coral reefs and is surrounded by lush green vegetation. Across its surroundings you will find unique rock formations, created by millions of years erosion. Being a lagoon it’s water is shallow & crystal clear, ideal for snorkeling. Swimming is strictly prohibited in these beaches during dusk & dawn, owing to the presence of crocs at these times.
Vijay Nagar Beach Positioned between Govind Nagar & Vijay Nagar Beach, this beach is lined with low lying trees & shallow blue waters. Remember this beach is just for your roaming expedition.
Govind Nagar Beach One of the most underrated beaches in Havelock Island, Govind Nagar Beach is actually one of the best beaches in you will ever see.
